Finely dispersed whitewash
What is whitewash?
A brief explanation
Whitewash is a natural product made of calcium hydroxide and water. It's a finely dispersed suspension that remains in solution.
Whitewash is...
- a natural product
- made of calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)₂) + water (H₂O)
- a finely disperes suspension
Production of whitwash
Whitewash produced in-house
Our facility in Balve produces whitewash from calcium hydroxide and water on two production lines. The limestone (calcium carbonate) is burned at high temperatures, ground into chalk and doused with water.
The calcium carbonate then reacts with the water to produce calcium hydroxide. This is then diluted with water and processed into whitewash. What makes our whitewash from our own production special is its highly specific surface, achieved by continued grinding. This results in an exceptionally finely dispersed suspension that remains in solution, even after longer service times.
Application of whitewash
Whitewash is used in various applications, such as...
- Potable water treatment
- The metal industry
- In wastewater treatment plants
- Further industries
